Jeff Williams
Bio:
Your eyes won't believe your ears , when you see the result of over 30 years of musical exploration and composition. Jeff Williams is one of Only 2 guitarist ON EARTH who compose using this new approach to the acoustic guitar called "Acoustic Flat Tapping". In this style the guitar is laid FLAT and played from above with both hands "like a piano". your eye's wont' beleive your ears ..
Born in Tampa Florida and relocated to North Bay Ontario Canada, Jeff's journey in music began at the age of four. On a piano, in a basement in Canada he would create short etudes which would later be realized as the basic tenants of music theory. His teacher, was a source from within himself.
Through the years he would play bluegrass and gospel inspired by family gatherings where every single family member was an acomplished bluegrass musician. The great american working class kind who would sit fireside and tell stories in song. Bluegrass is sometimes called the jazz of country. Eventualy, at 15, Jeff discovered fusion jazz in a recording by Jean Luc Ponty a renowned child prodigy in classical music and now a jazz fusion violinist. Other influences at that time included Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs , Bonnie Raitt , Santana , AL Di Miola , Pink Floyd and Steely Dan.
Jeff studied jazz through his high school under renowned jazz recording artist phillip "flip" shoemaker from Kansas University. Under his guidance "Flip" soon had Jeff on stage with local university professors.
Upon graduation Jeff continued his education at the University of South Florida and HCC in Tampa Fl. as a music major with a physics minor. There he also embraced the struggles of his inclusion in the "working class" of america as a commercial electrician. Considering these experiences he gains the crucial insight of the world around him and it's reflected in his emotionally fueled and sometimes haunting lyrics and instrumental compositions. Jeff is quoted as saying ..
"one thing a composer must always include is sincerity , sincerity is not an option it's the key."
With his experiences from many different genres of music including Flamenco , Jazz ,Rock ,Bluegrass, Fingerstyle and Classical and combining elements of exotic and percussion instruments he has broadened the perceived boundaries of the art of acoustic guitar forever. He is developing a new style called "upright guitar" in which the guitar is turned upright like a stand up bass and extensive use of the wood surfaces of the guitar are included as percussion. It sounds like a whole band playing complete with bass line, lush chords and a quite expressive percussion display.
he's been called "the satriani of acoustic" when asked about the art of his technique Jeff replies
"art should do one of two things .. show how someone is thinking or feeling ..... or show a NEW WAY of thinking and feeling"
When you see and hear this art i'm sure you'll agree a new and unique landscape of music has indeed emerged in this great talent.
Jeff has been reviewed and honored recently on the SirJohnBosco's "the skinny" and is also one of very few musicians to be included in the "best of the best" at youtube-review, the the most respected source's for entertainment news reporting worldwide on talents around the world. TA Taylor of youtube-review writes ...
Nice for the eyes and the ears
Watch this! No, listen to this! No, watch this! Here is something to boggle your senses. Yes, the music is very soothing and melodic. But when you see the style in which this music is played, you'll be doubly impressed. Keep in mind, people, this is a Guitar, not a Piano....
"I am extremely in awe of someone who can alter the way it is played and still hold onto the musical quality. This is a pleasant.. for the ears and an amazing feat,.. for the eyes..."

One might think that the genius of Jeff Williams is expressed only in music but his experiences in physics and electronics soon led him to microphone technology research. Under his company Carolina Audio Technology he built and designed the studio ribbon microphones he uses in his recordings. He's quoted as saying "i had just about every mic under the sun and something was always missing. The RCA 74b was my favorite mic but produced too much noise to be a permanent solution." Soon he had the "the Destroyer D-2b" delivering the warmth and sparkle present in his performances. These mics are currently in the patent process and discussions for licensing the design with Rick Perotta of Royer Labs is ongoing.
Jeff's devotion to music extends to the studio where he is an acomplished engineer and producer. Work in the theater under the employ of IATSE the "International Association of Theatrical Stage Employee's" gained him experience in all aspects of theater production. Even the most dangerous work in the the theater "rigging" was no problem since his hobby is Extreme Sport Rock Climbing.
Overall Jeff's complete devotion and love for music results in a unique display of lush harmonies and technical prowess in which your ear's won't believe your eyes.
